The EU Security Union Strategy and the TRACY Project
The contemporary security landscape, regarding the threat stemming from terrorism and organized crime, reveals a complex variety of challenges, also determined by a tumultuous international environment. Within this context, it is worth mentioning that these dynamic threats require continuous adjustments to security policy and decisive response initiatives, the main core of which is expressed by “The EU Security Union Strategy.”
The TRACY project has taken significant steps towards security and digital innovation by implementing various actions aimed at enhancing the EU’s security through innovative technologies and methodologies.
The first focus of the strategy (Combating terrorism and organized crime) involves enhancing law enforcement’s operational abilities to prevent and address groups associated with terrorism and organized crime. This enhancement is achieved through modern research methods and technical solutions during the project, while at the same time, the threats directed against critical infrastructures and public spaces require an increasingly modern way of responding to shield them, achieving a security wall for the future and satisfying the second axis of strategy (A future-proof environment).
Moreover, training and standards established with other relevant key players in the field have fostered a positive environment for partnerships and interoperability, creating a unified security mechanism in line with the third axis of the strategy (Building a strong security ecosystem). In conclusion, the use of technologies like AI and Big Data Analytics are revolutionizing the crime investigation practices of law enforcement agencies. These advancements are reshaping their operational methods to address emerging threats, creating Modern Law Enforcement within the fourth axis (Tackling Evolving Threats).
