SUMMARY:3rd TRACY Workshop: Legal - ethical issues and AI for LEAs
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Summary\nOn the 17th of September\, the Consortium will host a two-part event on the legal\, ethical and societal issues surrounding the TRACY project. The first part on Legal – ethical issues and AI for law enforcement agencies will be open to the general public and tackle challenges related to the use of AI in law enforcement. The second part of the programme will be limited to the consortium members only as we will discuss the use of electronic communications non-content data. \n  \nOpen to general public: Legal – ethical issues and AI for LEAs\nOur TRACY Legal – ethical issues and AI workshop is centered around the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to support the law enforcement agencies’ (LEA) investigations. As today’s crimes become more and more complex\, including emerging technologies in crime detection becomes a necessity. On the other hand\, the systems used by LEA must be safe and robust and thus adhere to requirements set by the new AI Act. For these reasons\, we organize this workshop with will first set the scene to then give space for discussion and exchange of knowledge. \nThe workshop will provide an overview of the TRACY project\, introducing its objectives and importance of the AI in crime investigations. The session will then explore the European legal landscape regarding AI\, with a deep dive into the requirements of the AI Act and examples of AI applications in law enforcement. \nThe workshop will address key legal-ethical issues in AI deployment\, including privacy and data protection\, surveillance\, liability and accountability\, bias and discrimination\, autonomy\, transparency\, and the right to a fair trial. The discussion will also highlight the impact of AI on policing practices\, public trust\, and legitimacy. We will also share best practices and recommendations\, drawing on lessons learned from the TRACY project. \nThroughout the workshop\, we will encourage active discussion on the topic and foster exchange of knowledge in this area between the participants. At the end of the session\, we will attempt to analyze and answer any remaining questions and summarize the presentation. \n  \nTRACY Consortium only: Legal\, ethical\, and societal issues related to the use of electronic communications non-content data\nDuring the latter part open to consortium members only\, we will discuss the fundamentals of the legal scene related to data access and retention to then deep dive into the lessons learnt from TRACY and its activities so far. \nPlease be aware that the content of the second part of the workshop will be sensitive\, and its circulation is restricted to the TRACY consortium members only. This includes technical material and screen recordings.\n \n  \nAgenda:\n \n  \n \n  \nRegister below to join us!\nPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.First Name *Last Name *EmailI am a member of: *HPOLGPIGCPIA public authorityAnother Law Enforcement Agency (please specify below)OtherPlease specify your Organization *Register to attend

SUMMARY:2nd TRACY Workshop: Data Analytics for LEAs\, May 24th
DESCRIPTION:TRACY Analytics for LEA workshop is centered around two state-of –the-art analytics platforms\, that can be used to support the LEA investigations. As today’s crimes become more and more complex\, data driven crime analysis becomes a necessity. On a different note\, crime analysis needs to provide supporting evidence that can be used in the court of law\, so it must be transparent\, reliable\, and explainable. With those motivations we organize a three-step workshop\, presenting two platforms and ending with a roundtable discussion: \nThe first platform is SAS Visual Investigator\, which transforms criminal investigations with advanced analytics\, data integration\, and visualization tools. By analyzing disparate data sources\, it uncovers patterns and connections crucial for identifying and apprehending suspects. Its intuitive interface streamlines workflows\, empowering law enforcement agencies to combat crime effectively and safeguard communities. \nThe second platform we present is Chainalysis\, a leading blockchain analysis platform used for investigating and preventing cryptocurrency-related crime. It provides law enforcement\, regulators\, and businesses with tools to track and analyze cryptocurrency transactions\, identifying illicit activities such as money laundering and fraud. Chainalysis helps ensure compliance with regulations and enhances trust in the digital asset ecosystem. \nThe last part of our workshop provides a round table discussion on the role of Analytics Platforms in law enforcement investigations\, especially as it relates to the previously described platforms. We will attempt to analyze and answer questions such as\, how to best utilize those platforms to enhance the investigation process\, what are the potential challenges (such as ethical and privacy considerations)\, or how to produce case studies to further realize values and challenges. \n  \nEvent’s Agenda: \n \n  \n  \nRegister below to join us! \n  \nRegistration FormPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.First Name *Last Name *EmailI am a member of: *HPOLGPIGCPIA public authorityAnother Law Enforcement Agency (please specify below)OtherPlease specify your Organization/LEA *GenderFemaleMaleNon-binaryOtherPrefer not to sayRegister to attend
